Light and dark theme
Taskshire can be shown in a light or a dark theme. There are two places to change it, and they always agree with each other.
The quick way
- Click your name at the top right to open the account menu.
- Under Theme, choose System, Light or Dark.
From your profile
- Open your profile page and find the Appearance card.
- Click the System, Light or Dark preview.
The page changes straight away and your choice is saved as you make it. There is no save button.
- System follows your phone or computer: if your device switches to dark in the evening, Taskshire does too.
- Light and Dark stay as they are, whatever your device is set to.
Your choice is saved to your account, so it follows you to every device you sign in on. It applies only to you and not to the rest of your team.
A few things worth knowing:
- In the dark theme, buttons and highlights are a soft green. A project’s own brand colour is used in the light theme only, so that text always stays easy to read.
- The 3D town, your character sheet, the sign-in pages and the client area keep their own look and do not change with the theme.
- Previews of social posts on a task stay light, because they show the post as it will look on that network.
- The help centre uses the theme you last chose in that browser, even when you are signed out.
Installing Taskshire as an app
You can add Taskshire to your phone’s home screen or your computer so that it opens in its own window, without the browser’s address bar. There is nothing to download from an app shop.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Taskshire in Safari.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
Android
- Open Taskshire in Chrome.
- Tap Install app when Chrome offers it, or open the menu (⋮) and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
Windows, Mac and Chromebook
- Open Taskshire in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install Taskshire.
The installed app is the same Taskshire, signed in to the same account. It still needs an internet connection: if you are offline you will see a short message and can try again once you are back online.
Push notifications
Push notifications appear on your phone or computer even when Taskshire isn’t open. Tapping one takes you straight to the task.
Turning push on
- Open Notification settings and find the Push notifications card.
- Click Turn on for this device and allow notifications when your browser asks.
- Click Send a test notification to check that it arrives.
Push is switched on one device at a time. Repeat these steps on each phone or computer where you want notices.
On iPhone and iPad, push only works after you have installed Taskshire to your Home Screen (see above). Open Taskshire from the Home Screen icon, then turn push on from there.
Choosing what is pushed
- Everything in my inbox – every notice you would see in your Taskshire inbox.
- Only sign-off requests and mentions – when something is waiting for your sign-off (including reminders) and when someone mentions you in a comment.
- Nothing – no push at all, without removing your devices.
This setting covers all your devices. It does not change what appears in your inbox or what is emailed to you.
Removing a device
Under Your devices, click Remove next to a phone or computer to stop sending push to it. Do this if you no longer use a device. Taskshire also removes a device automatically when its browser tells us the subscription has ended.
If you can’t see the Push notifications card
Push has to be set up once for your whole Taskshire site by an administrator. Until that is done the card is hidden. If your browser has blocked notifications for Taskshire, allow them in the browser’s site settings and reload the page.
