What it does
A channel is an account your project posts to, such as your Discord server’s announcements channel. Once a channel is connected, you choose it on a task, set a publish time, and Taskshire posts the task’s caption and images there at that time. Nobody has to be online.
What you can connect today
- Discord: works today. It posts into a channel on your Discord server through a webhook, which is a private posting address Discord gives you.
- X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, LinkedIn and Facebook: coming soon. They appear under Coming soon on the Channels page, and you’ll be able to add them there once they’re ready.
Before you start
- In Taskshire: you need to be able to manage channels in the project. Project admins can.
- In Discord: you need permission to manage webhooks in the channel you want to post to. Server owners and admins have it.
Connect Discord
- In Discord, open your server and hover over the channel you want to post in. Select the gear icon (Edit channel).
- Choose Integrations, then Webhooks, then New Webhook.
- Give it a name, such as “Taskshire”, and select Copy Webhook URL.
- In Taskshire, open your project, then Other tools → Publishing channels.
- Under Add a channel, choose Discord and select Add channel.
- Type a name for the channel, such as
#announcements, so your team knows where posts go. - Select Connect Discord, paste the address you copied, and select Connect.
- Switch the channel on with the toggle on the right.
Each new project already has a Discord channel waiting, so you may only need steps 6 to 8.
Check it worked
- Select Test connection on the channel. It asks Discord whether the address still works. It doesn’t post anything.
- The channel shows On · connected in green when it’s ready.
- After your first post goes out, the Publishing log at the bottom of the Channels page shows it with a View post link.
Schedule a post
- When you create the task, tick the Discord channel under Where does this ship?
- Write the caption and add any images.
- On the task, set the Publish time and select Save.
- Move the task along your board as usual. Once it reaches your board’s scheduled step, Taskshire posts it at the publish time. If it has no publish time by then, the task tells you and offers to publish now.
To post a scheduled task straight away, select Publish now on it.
Changed your mind? Select Unschedule on the task to pull it back.
What a Discord post looks like
- The caption is the message text.
- Images show inside the message. Videos appear as links.
- Posts don’t ping anyone: no @everyone and no role mentions.
Troubleshooting
- The Publishing log says “Failed”: Taskshire tries 3 times before giving up. Read the reason beside it, fix it, then reschedule the task.
- “Discord isn’t connected” or the test fails: someone may have deleted the webhook in Discord. Create a new one (steps 1 to 3) and select Reconnect on the channel.
- The channel can’t be switched on: it needs a name first. Type one in the box under the platform name.
- You can’t see Publishing channels: ask a project admin. Only people who can manage channels see it.
Planning for platforms that are coming soon
If your project already has a channel for a platform that’s coming soon, it stays on the Channels page marked post by hand. You can still plan posts for it in Taskshire and copy them across yourself.
