What the town is
Every project in Taskshire has a town. It is a small 3D village you can walk around, and every building in it opens a part of your real project: your tasks, your calendar, your team.
There is nothing to keep up with. Walking around the town, earning XP and decorating it are all optional. If you would rather see a plain board, switch to Work view (see below). The tasks, the people and the deadlines are the same in both.
Two ways to see the same project
- Town view is the village. Walk up to a building to open it.
- Work view is the plain dashboard: your board, calendar and settings, without the village.
To switch:
- In the town, open the View menu at the top and choose Work view.
- In Work view, open the Town view menu in the project bar and choose your town.
You can also choose which one opens first. In the town, go to Your Home and set Default workspace.
Getting around
- Walk with W A S D or the arrow keys. Hold Shift to run. Q and E step sideways.
- On a phone or tablet, use the arrow pad in the corner of the screen, or tap a building to walk there.
- Enter a building by walking to its door and pressing F.
- Jump straight to a building with G, which lists every destination.
- Find any task with Ctrl + K (or Cmd + K on a Mac).
- Look around by dragging, and scroll out for a bird's-eye view where you can click buildings directly.
- Sit down at a bench, picnic table or campfire with F. Move to stand up again.
The buildings
Workshop
Your board. Tasks sit in columns (for example To do, In progress, Review and Done) and you drag them along as work moves forward. Create a task, open one to see its details, or search for one. The tasks and boards guide covers this in full.
Town Hall
What needs you today: tasks you own, work waiting for your review, and a small daily goal (three pieces of work) that earns a little bonus XP. If the list is empty, you are caught up.
Guild hall
Your team. See who is in the project, invite someone new, and watch the guild level grow as the team gets work done. Each guild level adds a decoration to the town for everyone.
The Guild hall is also where you find the Weekly league: a friendly table of who did what this week, which resets every Monday. Past weeks are kept so you can look back.
Calendar Tower
The week ahead, with every task that has a due date. Open a task straight from the calendar, or go to the full calendar in Work view.
Asset Library
Files and images the project has collected: logos, photos, reference material.
Your Home
Your character and your preferences: male or female character, time zone, town lighting, sound, graphics quality and whether the town or Work view opens first. Nothing here changes the project for anyone else.
The hearth
If you step away for a few minutes, your character wanders off to sit by the tavern fire, the hearth. Press any key or tap the screen to come back to the same spot. You can change how long that takes, or turn it off, in Your Home. Town Planner adds quieter gardens to rest in.
XP, levels and bounties
Getting work done earns XP:
- Delivering a task that a teammate has reviewed earns the most, with a bonus for being on time.
- Reviewing a teammate's work earns XP too, whatever you decide, with a bonus for answering within a day.
- Writing a brief that someone else delivers earns XP for the writer.
- Finishing your own work without a review earns a little, a few times a day.
Your level follows you across every project; the guild level belongs to this project's team.
Every Monday, each town is set three bounties: short team targets for the week, such as "Finish 8 tasks" or "Answer 3 reviews within a day". Reaching one earns the town Town XP, which Town Planner can spend on unique decorations for the town.
What is free and what is Town Planner
Free, for everyone:
- Projects, boards, tasks, due dates, comments, checklists and the calendar.
- Inviting your team, with roles for who can do what.
- The town itself, a male or female character in any skin colour, XP, levels, achievements, bounties and the Weekly league.
- Switching between Town view and Work view whenever you like.
Town Planner is a paid add-on for teams who want to make the town their own:
- Redesign the town: move buildings, plant trees, place the decorations you have earned.
- Choose the weather and the music, and add your own branding.
- Dress your character: hair, outfits and companions.
- Townsfolk who help turn ideas into plans, quiet gardens to sit in, and team challenges with badges.
Who can buy it, and how to cancel
Town Planner belongs to the workspace, not to one person, so everyone on the team gets it together. The price depends on how many people are in the workspace.
- Only the workspace owner can turn it on, in Workspace settings → Plan & billing. Payment is by card through Stripe.
- To cancel, the owner goes to the same page and chooses Manage billing. Town Planner stays on until the end of the period already paid for, and nothing is charged after that.
- Your towns, characters and everything you have earned are kept if you cancel. Only the Town Planner extras switch off.
- The free plan never charges anything.
Tip
Not sure where to start? Press G, open Town Hall, and work through the list there. Everything else can wait.
